Melbourne artist REMI and musical collaborator Sensible J are one of the fastest-rising Hip Hop acts in Australia and are quickly gaining the attention of international tastemakers. REMI’s new album ‘Divas & Demons’ is OUT NOW.

“This is the first body of work we’ve ever done that feels like it’s a diary. It’s pretty much my experience of the last two years in terms of relationship stuff, race stuff, political observations and mental health. I think you can hear that in the album, you can hear that it’s my brain… lyrically”. – Remi

Out on REMI’s imprint, House of Beige today, the sixteen-track sophomore LP features the widely loved singles “For Good” featuring Sampa the Great, and “Substance Therapy”, and “Lose Sleep” featuring Jordan Rakei.

As well as performing their own sold-out headline tours and world-class festivals, REMI have also shared the stage with Danny Brown, Vic Mensa, De La Soul, Joey Bada$$ and in December this year were invited to perform Gorillaz tracks with Damon Albarn on each of his Australian Tour shows. REMI’s appeal is as diverse as it is impressive.

2014 was a huge year for the young MC with his new album RAW X INFINITY receiving immense critical acclaim locally and abroad, landing Feature Album of the Week on triple J, and being awarded the ‘Independent Hip Hop Album of the Year’ by the Australian Independent Record Association (voted by over 450 Australian music industry).

There are also four singles getting airplay across the country, international media features with the likes of tastemaker blogs OkayAfrica, JUICE and laut.de, as well debut international tours in the UK throughout Europe.

To cap off the year REMI has just been nominated for the ‘Australian Breakthrough Artist of the Year’ and has also been awarded the Australian Independent Record Labels Association’s $50,000 ‘Global Music Grant’ for having the most potential to break internationally.

In 2013 REM racked-up a bunch of impressive awards including the triple J Unearthed Artist of the year J Award and was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered.

There’s no artist in Australia – hip hop or otherwise – producing music that’s as admirably confident or accessibly progressive as that featured on Raw X Infinity. REMI’s fit for stardom, and he knows it. – Tone Deaf.

“There’s finally a real feeling that Australia is home to some heavyweight hip hop acts that can compete on the world stage. Nothing is more evident of this than REMI’s banging new track ‘Tyson’ from his award-winning album, Raw X Infinity. The landscape has never looked better for Australian fans of Hip Hop’ and Remi Kolawole is getting in early and staking a claim for the crown”. – Itsmykindofscene.com

“REMI is a consummate performer. He’s impossibly slick and completely unafraid to shake what his mama gave him (seriously, this dude’s got moves). He knows how to whip the crowd into a frenzy. There’s nowhere for this young artist to go but up. Betting against REMI would be a fool’s move. He’s got the goods”. – themusic.com
